Namibia is roughly twice as large as Germany and with a population of 2.5million people one of the least densely populated countries in the world. This fact is often underestimated while planning the duration of the tour. Especially considering the amount of time spent on gravel roads, which slow down the pace of the tour overall. Namibia’s north is still very remote and some areas can only be explored with the help of a GPS. Through our extensive experience as a renowned Tour Company we can assure you that we will create you a tailor-made journey within a realistic time frame including the attractions and adventures on your wish list. To give you a general idea of possible routes and the approximate cost of our guided wild camping tours into the Damaraland and Kaokoveld, we have created two example tours for you. These tours are there for you as a rough guideline. Each of our tours are calculated individually according to your personal specifications and wishes. Different factors will also influence the tour as to where it starts and where it ends. This can all be discussed in more detail for your tailor-made adventure.
3 Nights (4 Days) Damaraland
Your trip today takes you to the deserted area around the Doros Crater, which developed through volcanic activity and is situated between the Brandberg Mountain and Twyfelfontein. The area is well known as one of the most beautiful and most deserted regions and gives a new meaning to "somewhere in the middle of nowhere".
Overnight Wild Camping at Doros Crater
Your journey continues through deserted, off-the beaten tracks and along breathtaking landscapes into the Huab Dry River Bed. Possible wild life sightings.
Overnight: Wild Camping in the Huab Valley
We stay in the Huab Valley the whole day, exploring the dry river and its tributaries and look for Desert Elephant, lions and any other wildlife. After a last evening around the campfire you continue with your privately planned tour the following day.
9 Nights (10 Days) Kaokoland
Tour Start. We drive west into the Hoanib River. We stay there for the day, exploring the dry riverbed and the valleys alongside. We search for desert elephants, lions and other animals.
Overnight: Wild camping in the Hoanib Valley.
We carry on north over Okongwe to the Hoarusib Valley. We follow the river to Purros. On the way we see beautiful landscapes and do a gamedrive.
Overnight: Camping at Purros Campsite. Shower and toilet available.
We follow the Hoarusib Valley north over a beautiful pass to the Khumib ephemeral river. We follow the river to Orupembe and carry on northwest to the close vicinity of the Skeleton Coast Park.
Overnight: Wild camping wherever we are at dusk.
Proceed parallel to the Skeleton Coast Park through remote landscapes to the Hartmanns Valley.
Overnight: Wild camping in the Hartmanns Valley.
We explore the Hartmanns Valley with short walks to beautiful viewpoints. Thereafter we have brunch, siesta and in the late afternoon a sundowner drive to a spectacular viewpoint.
Overnight: Wild camping in the Hartmanns Valley
Via Red Drum we reach Marienfluss Valley and drive on to the Kunene. In the afternoon we take a walk or relax at the river.
Overnight: Camping at Camp Syncro
We drive back via Red Drum to Marble Camp just before Onjuva plains. On the way we may encounter members of the Himba tribe.
Overnight: Camping at Marbel Campsite.
We drive east via Otjihaa meeting many Himba on the way to just before Etanga or as far as we manage to proceed.
Overnight: Wild camping.
Drive to Opuwo. Here we will enjoy a last night around the campfire (or, with a supplement, lodge accommodation) before you continue on your privately planned route the next day.
