Caprivi

Caprivi

In contrast to the rest of Namibia, Caprivi is a wetland paradise: wide, perennial rivers, which are lined with papyrus and palm trees. Once the rivers fill with more and more water, the environment becomes a subtropical forest. The animal life in the Caprivi region is rich and varied. The Bwabwata National Park (formerly the Caprivi National Park and Mahango National Park) covers almost the whole area of the western Caprivi Strip. The Mudumu National Park is located in the eastern region of the Caprivi and is bounded to the west by the Kwando River. The Mamili National Park (Nkasa Lupala) is located in the southwestern corner of the Caprivi and is the largest wetland reserve in Namibia.  The park is often referred to as Namibia’s Okavango Delta.
